1. Overview
Nutrica helps you understand food labels by scanning ingredients and providing personalized guidance. We designed Nutrica to be private by default:
- No developer servers hold your personal data.
- Your data stays on your device and, if you choose, in your private iCloud via Apple's CloudKit.
- We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising or cross‑app tracking.
By using Nutrica, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
2. What Data We Handle (and where it lives)
We do not collect or store your personal data on our own servers.
Data you enter or generate in Nutrica is stored:
- On your device (default): your profile (allergies, diets, health considerations), family profiles, in‑app settings, scan history, and local analytics (totals, trends, verdict counts).
- In your private iCloud (optional): if you enable iCloud sync, Nutrica uses Apple's CloudKit to store and sync some data (e.g., your profile, settings, and analytics) across your devices signed in with the same Apple ID.
Important about CloudKit:
- Your iCloud data is stored in your private CloudKit database tied to your Apple ID.
- We (the developer) cannot see the contents of your private CloudKit database. We do not have access to your Apple ID or your iCloud account.
- Apple provides encryption in transit and at rest for iCloud. Access to your data is controlled by your Apple ID and device settings.
Note: Family profiles and scan history are stored on device. If we add iCloud sync for these in a future update, we will update this policy and the in‑app settings.
3. Camera, Photos, and On‑Device Processing
- Live camera preview and captured images are processed on your device to detect and recognize label text (using Apple frameworks).
- Images are not uploaded to our servers.
- If you import a photo from your library, it is processed locally in the same way.
4. AI Text Cleanup (minimized, by feature use)
To isolate the ingredient list from noisy label text, Nutrica may send the extracted label text (plain text only) to a trusted AI provider solely to clean and return the ingredient list.
- We do not send images with this request.
- We do not include your name, contact information, or health profile in this request.
- If the AI request fails or is unavailable, Nutrica uses a local on‑device fallback.
- Any processing or retention by the AI provider is governed by that provider's policy. We do not request long‑term storage of your label text. Provider example: Groq.
5. How We Use Data
- Provide features: scanning, text extraction, ingredient analysis, and personalized results for you and your family.
- Sync (optional): if enabled, keep your profile, settings, and analytics consistent across your devices via CloudKit.
- Reliability and quality: improve the accuracy of ingredient extraction using the AI cleanup step described above.
- Support and safety: respond to support requests and maintain app security.
We do not use your data for ads or cross‑app tracking. We do not run third‑party advertising SDKs.
6. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your data. We share data only in these limited cases:
- With Apple iCloud/CloudKit (optional): to sync your data in your private iCloud. We cannot access your private CloudKit database contents.
- With the AI text provider: only the label text necessary to clean/extract ingredients is sent; no images or health profiles are included.
- Legal/safety: if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or others.
- Your choice: if you use the iOS share sheet to share a results summary, you choose where that content goes.
7. Your Choices and Controls
- Keep data on device: do not enable iCloud sync if you prefer all data to remain local.
- Enable/disable iCloud: turn iCloud on/off at any time in system settings and/or in‑app settings (where available).
- Delete data in‑app: you can delete your profile, family profiles, settings, history, and analytics from the app. If signed in and iCloud is available, you can also delete your synced CloudKit data via the in‑app "Delete All Data" workflow.
- Manage permissions: revoke camera or photo access in iOS Settings at any time (scanning requires camera access).
8. Data Retention
- On device: we retain your data until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- In iCloud (optional): your records persist in your private CloudKit until you delete them or disable iCloud for Nutrica.
- AI text cleanup: provider processes submitted label text to return results; retention, if any, is governed by the provider's policy. We do not request long‑term storage.
9. Security
- iOS sandboxing and Apple's security protections apply to on‑device data.
- CloudKit provides encryption in transit and at rest for your iCloud data and is protected by your Apple ID.
- We take reasonable steps to safeguard your information. No method is 100% secure, but we continually work to protect your data.
10. Children's Privacy
Nutrica is for general audiences. Parents/guardians should manage family profiles for minors. If you believe we have received information in violation of applicable law, contact us and we will address it promptly.
11. International Users
Your information may be processed on your device and in Apple's infrastructure where iCloud operates. By using Nutrica, you consent to such processing and storage.
12. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR/CCPA and similar)
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data.
- Use the in‑app deletion tools to remove local data and, if enabled, iCloud data.
- You may also contact us at giftretyu@gmail.com with requests. We may need to verify your identity.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect new features, improvements, or legal requirements. If changes are material, we will notify you in the app or by other appropriate means. The "Effective date" above shows when the latest changes took effect.

- We do not run our own servers for your personal data.
- Your synced data resides in your private iCloud (CloudKit). Even we cannot view the contents of your private CloudKit database; access is controlled by your Apple ID.
- Images are processed on device; we don't upload them.
- For AI cleanup we send label text only, with no identifiers, to return a cleaned ingredient list; we use a local fallback if it fails.
- No ads. No data sales. No cross‑app tracking.
